A Bag of Sunshine is the perfect gift

This year for Teachers Appreciation Day, I wanted to do something I’ve seen on Pinterest for years. A box, bag, or jar of Sunshine. I chose to do a bag, because that is what I had. But you can also use a box or jar. So what is A Bag of Sunshine? A Bag of Sunshine is a bag filled with yellow items that can brighten up someone’s day. They are wonderful and easy to make for birthdays, graduations, care packages, get well soon gifts and of course teacher appreciation gifts.

For my Bag of Sunshine, I chose items that I knew my daughter’s teacher would love. For example, she likes sunflowers, so I found some sunflower slipper socks perfect for the Bag of Sunshine. I also included a face mask, m&ms, lip balm(pineapple flavored), and a giant chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was the only item not yellow, but I knew the recipient would like the cookie, so I made an exception.

What You Will Need:

• Gift bag
• Yellow items to place in bag
• Ribbon
• Other decorations to embellish bag
• Yellow tissue paper

How to make A Bag of Sunshine

First, you need a bag. Take into consideration the larger the bag the more items that you may need to add. I used a standard medium brown gift bag. You can all use a white or yellow bag. Or, even a bag with some yellow on it. Like a yellow flower and the like.

Next, figure out the items you would like to place in your bag. Think of yellow things the recipient will love. In my bag I chose 5 items, but you can add more of less depending on the size of your bag and how much you want to spend. Sample size items are great for this. Or yellow chips, cookies and candy. Spa masks, soaps and lip balms are also a great idea. If you are making one for a teacher, nice yellow pens, and other school supplies work too. Gift cards are also nice. If not yellow, maybe place them in a yellow envelope. The possibilities are close to endless.

After you have found all your items, think about how you would like to decorate your bag. I placed a yellow bow and flower on mine and added a custom gift tag that said “Little Bag of Sunshine.” You Can design your own or print out mine.

Once the bag is decorated, don’t forget get to add in yellow tissue paper. After this step you could add in a card or just gift it to the recipient. I had my daughter create a cute card to add to our gift.
